Ways to Stress Less While Moving

Whether you’re moving to or graduating from college, or relocating with your family, packing up can be quiet a task no matter the size of your move. There are a couple things you can do to help minimize the difficulty of packing your belongings as well as insure their safety.

Let’s start with boxes, when moving cardboard boxes are your best friend. They are protective (unless you packing all your favorite rocks), allow for the utilization of all the space in your moving truck or vehicle and they’re free if you know where to look. If you call your local grocery or liquor store they will set aside all the boxes you need, since almost all of their shipments arrive in cardboard boxes. There abundance of boxes is your ticket to the free packaging.

Now that you have your boxes, I guess how to fill them is the next venture that can become frustrating. You will want to pack heaviest to lightest, doing this will also force you to go through all your belongings, allowing you get rid of broken or unneeded items. Moving is a wonderful time to get rid of any clutter you may have possessed over the years. Not only will you probably save yourself a box or two of packing and save room in your vehicle, you will also get the chance to start out in your new location clutter free.

When it comes to packing, aim to pack by room by room, or if you are only packing up a single room, keep your belongings in order in regards to where you generally place them. Doing this will help save a lot of time on the other end, when you’re unpacking.

Depending on your preferences time management can become a real element that contributes, or minimizes the stresses of relocating. For some people, packing a couple boxes a day for a week or so creates the least amount of stress. Others get stressed by having to walk through the boxes in the house or room until their move out day, if that’s you then packing then doing the majority of your packing the day before you move out would probably be the easiest way for you to endure the processes or packing all your I belongings.

Play some music while you’re packing, both in the vehicle you are loading and in your house, this will help to substantially lighten the mood among yourself and those who may be helping you pack. With a little planning prior to your packing extravaganza, you can better avoid the stresses of relocating. Moving is generally an exciting time in your life, presenting new opportunities, new people that will cross your path and all your previous item will take on a new role in your dorm, apartment or house. Strive to enjoy your moving processes rather than filling it with stress and anxieties.
